It's Happening

In the past month, there have been at least four major multi-billion dollar takeover deals. Southwest is flying high as it buys AirTran Airways for $1.4 billion. Unilever is looking to pickup Alberto Culver for $3.7 billion, Wal-Mart is grabbing South Africa based Massmart Holdings for $4.26 billion and IBM wants to buy a data analytics company called Netezza Corporation for $1.7 billion. It’s too soon to say if it’s a trend, but the series of deals confirm what I’ve been predicting for months: cash-rich companies are poised for a major buying spree.
